25th Anniversary Year
TWELFTH Edition,
December, 2006

A Florida senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he floored it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left.

"Amazing," he thought as he flew down I-75, pushing the pedal even more.

Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw the state trooper behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring.

He floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120. Suddenly he thought, "What am I doing? I'm too old for this," and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival.

Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go."

The old gentleman paused. Then said, "Years ago, my wife ran off with a Florida State Trooper. I thought you were bringing her back."

"Have a good day, Sir," replied the trooper.

OLD BUSINESS
Nov. 19th Thanksgiving Family 5 cars attending. There was at least a month’s worth of food and gifts. The family was very appreciative. Only problem, a shell rock road…hadn’t been graded in a long time. Not good traveling for low slung Vettes. Dinner at Red’s. Thank you, Dan & Joanne Irons for organizing this again this year.

Dec. 2 Club Christmas Party at the Oasis. 23 members and 2 guests (Taylor & Millie Boyd) attended. The private party room was great. The food was exceptional, and every one had a good time. Special thank you to Debbie McClellan and Jill Zaiser for arranging the Christmas stocking treats.

Dec. 3 Corvettes on the Gulf “Rock til you Drop” car show in downtown Fort Myers. 1200 cars…this show gets bigger and better every year. They made money for Progeria Research.
Dec. 12 Cape Coral Rehab Center on Del Prado. We had 11 Vettes on display in the parking lot from 1pm til 3pm. Dom & Joan DiBattista organized the trip and had 120 bags of goodies for the patients. Dan Irons took charge of distribution with various club members helping out. Hot Dogs and juice were served. Eileen Nielson brought a kitty to visit with the patients and we all left with a good feeling and a job well done. Thanks to our donations, a discount from the $ Plus store and a $100 donation from a Pink Hat lady, Diana Arpad, the total amount to spend came to $475, all but $1.89 was spent. Thanks to Dom & Joan for their good work. Please remember to visit the Dollar Plus in the Publix Shopping Center on Hancock Bridge Pkwy. and Santa Barbara and say thanks, also. They have offered to help again next year, we’ll just start sooner.

During the break, the Club recognized Joanne and Dan Irons, with a congratulations cake. They are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary on December 15.
Best wishes, Joanne and Dan, and 50 more.
