Firearms and Other Weapons Had a request for this forum, so here it is. Guess it will give me some place to talk about guns myself after selling my ArmsLocker forum.

He was fully reinstated approximately two hours after his acquittal. Guess he's got some back pay coming to say the least.

Just out of curiosity, do sheriff's swear any sort of oath when taking office concerning supporting and defending the US Constitution?

Do law enforcement officers take any sort of oath along those lines?

So there is no exclusion in those oaths concerning the Second Amendment?

I see where you're going. I took an oath when I was in the military and as a law enforcement officer. Both stated that I would defend the Constitution of the United States of America.
It is my understanding that all elected officials also take this oath. Somewhere down the line the interpretation has become lost or at least unclear in the eyes of many politicians, or, like our current POTUS, they have a different agenda and have manipulated the laws to read as they would like them to. Apparently there is no recourse that would allow us to correct the situation, as the ones that make the laws make sure the law does not apply to them.
Impeachment of a president used to mean he would be removed from office if found guilty of wrongdoing. That didn't happen to Bill Clinton and things have been going downhill ever since. What applies to me does not necessarily apply to politicians. How did this happen and why is there no recourse? It seems everyone has rights but few have responsibility.
The word "accountability" has little or no meaning today.

Yeah, I think the party system is to blame. There is too much closing ranks in government policy and not enough independent thinking or voting. And yes, it is a serious flaw of the US Constitution that it only allows them to police themselves. But how will it ever change? And if it were to be changed, would it be better or worse? Good lord, did anyone really doubt the outcome of the government determining whether or not unlimited money from voting interests would be acceptable to them? Could you imagine those same people rewriting the Constitution?
