Question about headers making other repairs more difficult...

When I had my LGM Pro headers installed, the vette tech at the Chevy dealership mentioned that they would make replacing the clutch much more difficult (and expensive). What about other repairs, in particular the starter? Is that going to be a problem getting to now?

Anything else that they may have complicated? Just curious......

Starter repair will require you to move the header out of the way. I have the LG's also and it's not a big deal to remove it.

I know the Z06 breathes pretty good from the factory, but can anyone with a Z06 advise if the HP gains from the header install is noticable? Also is the sound deeper and more throaty? I have Corsas on my Z06 now and I just want a little more meat to the exhaust note. I was considering bypass cutouts with the electric switch for those times when I see a police car around,,

Which Corsa's do you have? I have the Corsa Touring exhaust. I recently added LG longtubes. It does make it noticeably louder. A nice throaty sound. Not as deep as the Bullets or Stingers I suppose. I took a short video before, but I have not had the chance to do an after video. And I have absolutely no idea how to get it from the video camera to the computer. I'm sure I would need video and audio cables from the camera to the computer, but I wouldn't know where to hook 'em up. Hopefully I'll have some time soon. I'm back to working 7 nights a week. Actually I'm off to bed now!

I'm not too sure what problems they may cause. Unfortunately for me, I never think that far ahead. I'm getting a lot better at doing my research, but for the headers I didn't.

Some people say you have to remove the starter to get the passenger side header in. When Ivo and I did my install, we just lifted the engine a fraction of an inch to get the header in. As a matter of fact, we had to do it for the drivers side as well. I would think that changing the starter shouldn't be a problem.

I would say YES, that I felt a noticeable increase in performance after installing the LGM Pro headers. I specifically wanted the 3 inch pipes from the collector back to the catback mufflers, as I felt it would give the exhaust note a deeper tone to it. Going back to my band playing days when I studied such things, I guess. Wider pipes (such as in a pipe organ or chimes) makes a deeper tone because of the wavelength change produced. I assume you saw my before and after video clips;

As for the bypass cutouts, heck, I don't know. There is some controversy, at least in my mind on that one. I have brought this up in another thread about backpressure:

I think there is just a lot of info floating around and much of it may just be advertising hype or inadvertent misinformation. The real answers may require some more digging to get to them.

I really don't know. I bought the Z06 from a private sale and they were on the car when I got it. I will look for the paperwork and see if it tells me which one I have.

Heres a pic if the tips are different and you can tell by that.

I have seen nothing but problems from cut outs. Usually it is the cut out valve not working properly after a short amount of use.

If you want more overall volume along with more horsepower get a set of Stingers. I personally have done dyno tests with Corsa vs Stinger and the Stinger made more HP. But the Stingers never get quiet. They always have a very noticeable drone to them unlike the Corsa which are nearly dead quiet at low RPM. I have my third set of Corsa's in my garage right now. I am going to replace the Stingers. I would rather have a little less horsepower and be able to think in my car.

By the way....very very low mile Stingers up for sale soon...lol.

These are the same tips (They are called the Daytona Tips)
I have the Indy/Pace not the Touring. I think Corsa may make both types of exhaust with each tip.
