exhaust tip cleaner - Page 2

What worked alright? There have been many suggestions and I'm not sure which one you're referring to. As a side here, my exhaust tips seem to get a little easier and a little cleaner each time I do them. Titanium may be a little different than you're application, but once cleaned to your satisfaction they'll be easier to maintain.....................Tom

sorry, the never dull worked alright. however, i looked at them this morning and they looked much, much better. so ill have to try a couple applications. any input on removing the carbon from the inside of the tip?

As I mentioned earlier, that Lead Away cloth I used for cleaning the carbon off of my stainless revolvers after shooting was a Godsend. Here's a link to a source -> http://secure.armorholdings.com/klee...roduct174.html

I have used never dull for many decades. You need to pick the right spot to use it. The product is a bit abrasive and will cause swirl scratches. I would prefer to use chrome cleaner as it's less abrasive. Once the tips have blackened it's really a job to bring them back to a bright shine. Never Dull will work, but you'll need to use something else to get the scratches out after you're done. I might suggest you use one of the watery type aluminum cleaners that are on the market.

Well I dug into my gun cleaning stuff and found a new pack of the Lead Away. It's a yellow colored cloth, so I cut off a strip of it and tried it on the insides of my four tail pipe tips. Didn't take long nor much elbow grease to clean them right up! Even took out the rust stains from the exhaust condensation coming through those old uncoated turbo housings I had. The cloth was just about jet black after usage, so it took off a lot more junk than I even realized was there.

Guess I'm going to have to buy more of that stuff.

Use sos pads. I had duels on my 72 cuda and sos pads work like a charm.

I was using brake cleaner and it does ok job

If you shoot stainless steel revolvers, it's the ONLY thing I have been able to find that takes off the carbon on the front of the cylinder.
