Default BLACK 2007 Corvette Z06 detail (clay/polish/wax) PIC INTENSIVE

I sold my Evo IX back in December in hopes of picking up a used Z06. I ended up finding a low-mile clean (we will get to that later) black on black 2007 Z06. The car was not "clean" (as in freshly washed) when I saw it to take it for a test drive. I did see that there were virtually no rock chips, dings, scrapes, etc. There was normal marring pretty much over the whole car, but it was not too bad. Around the drivers side around the hatch area, there were several vertical scratches at perfect belt-buckle height. There was, however, water spots over the entire hood, and a nice etching from bird dropping in one spot. I told the seller not to wash the car before I picked it up. So this is the first wash/polish/wax for me.

I ended up spending around 8 hours on this detail (I did the interior a few days prior, so no before/after pics). The whole process ended up going a lot faster than I anticipated, and I took my time. My plan for the detail was to address most of the marring, address some deeper scratches, remove all the water spots, apply some sealant, and then a wax. I wasn't going for 100% correction. With the hard Corvette paint, I will need some more products for a 95% - 100% correction, but I am happy with the results from the Porter Cable. I still have more to do, like remove wheels and clean calipers and inside of the wheels. There are also some areas I want to use a more aggressive pad/polish combo for deeper scratches.

Process:

Wash w/Meguairs Gold Class
Clay bar with ONR as clay lube
Porter Cable
Meguiar's burgandy and yellow pads
PO85RD 3.02
PO106 FA
Poorboys EX-P
Chemical Guys 50/50
Wheels polished w/PO85RD, then 106FA
FK1 1000P on wheels
Mother mag wheel polish on exhaust
303 Aerospace on interior and black trim

Before wash:

Scratches on left rear quarter panel from belt buckle:

50/50 shot of same area, after 1 pass of PO85:

Water spots on hood/LF fender, bird dropping etching:

50/50 shot of same area, after 1 pass PO85:
