Coating(ceramic) header question..

i searched but couldn't find a good answear
I'm thinking to get an
ARH headers and x-pipe and i'm told that i wouldn't be able to use my oem heatshield with any kind of aftermarket LTH .. so it seems like coating the header might be smart move in terms of lowering the engine heat , i don't really care how "cool" it'd look .. is there anything i should know of i should just go ahead and have them coated before i install ... if yes , should i also do the same for my x-pipes or header would be enough? thanks for your input

Ceramic coating will def help. It would lower your heat coming from your tunnel area if you also coat the xpipe.
I would strongly recommend Jet hot coating to do this for you.
Make sure its coated inside and out.

Yep, I agree. Jet Hot coating is the way to go. Actually, if I had it to do all over again, I would probably have the headers wrapped with insulation stips as well. I don't think it would be much fun trying to do it now while they are installed.... But it would certainly help keep the heat inside the pipes.

BTW, if you are considering getting the cats coated, everyone I've talked to recommends AGAINST doing that. They say it will burn the cats out prematurely.

thanks for the quick replies guys , what do you think about this local shop i posted below, they also do that 2000 degree ceramic coating ..

I agree with Rich, DO NOT DO THE CATS !!!!!!
However the draw back with doing the header wrap is it can actually hold moisture in if they get wet from cleaning, running through a mud puddle ect. It actually in some cases can promote rust so for me personally I dont recommend wrapping a header, but thats just my opinion.

As far as the shop you posted about , we have heard of them and spoken to them on a couple of occasions, really nice people ,as far as their product goes I cant really give you an educated opinion because I have never used them.

thanks ,how about the coated headers and the longevity of the engine? i remember i saw it (on corvetteforums.com i believe) somebody said that it'd effect the engine's life? thanks again

Ummm, I have never seen or known it to effect the engines life, so I dont know where they got that info.

Hmm, interesting.... I would have thought stainless headers being ceramic coated would be highly resistant to rusting.
