It looks like some of the paint on your car has been sanded or wet sanded? was it that way when you got the car or has someone tried to do a 3 stage wet sand and compounding? It's hard to tell from the photos, maybe I'm wrong and it's body work and scuffed primer.

I took mine from dull to a 10 foot paint job with 12-14 hours of hard work wet sanding using 1000 grit then 1500 then 2000 then compound and Mequiers Wax but it was alot less than a paint job and being without the car for a month or more. Just a thought anyway.

Again the car looks and sounds great

The car has been painted. I did the wet sanding (1,000 and 1,500 grit) shortly after I repo'd the car. There is a pretty big hoopty on the front fender from when I brought it home and various other dings and scratches that have occurred over the 2 years its been at the shop...The doors have been buffed out just see if they would shine up, which they did pretty nicely...so really it boils down to if I want to have a shiny car with some noticeable dings and hoopties or do I want to make it "appear" I haven't painted it yet with the HotRod black and have the car painted to the level of the rest of the car build at some point later...if I go the HR black route, I'll be doing it myself in my garage...no way the car is going to Body Shop Prison after this long of a wait...

Cheers!

Right on brother, I hear ya loud and clear that's why I did everything I could to salvage mine and granted it turned out better than I thought given the poor quality paint that was on the car and it looks tremendously better and hopefully bought me a year or two before a new paint job. I worked in a body shop after high school and that's what scares me about going to one, you put it perfectly as Body Shop Prison.

I assumed to talked to Tim Burke (right behind Robby's shop). If not, see what he says.

If its just a matter of fine scratched and swirls, a lot of that can be easily polishes out with some stuff I have. If it's already shot, there's no real harm in trying right? Adam's polishes can make even marginal pretty dang nice. Just lemme know.

On the flip side, I prepped my car for a garage paint job and it came out pretty dang good, so if you need help that way, I can be an extra set of hands.

I love the cockpit pic. Looks great hope to see you at the local tracks (If your planning?) when the weather gets cooler.
I like original cars to look at but not to drive. Right on with the restomods

I'm not a big perfect paint guy, I'd rock that thing out just like it is. That way when you do get a rock chip it won't hurt as bad.
