It is my pleasure and the pleasure of my co-workers to do what we do for this great country. God bless the USA.

to the site Ernesto.
Congrats on your Vette!!

Thanks for keeping us safe and a very Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I am fluent in Spanish and English but a little rusty in Latin.
I think that Semper means always but what does Paratus mean?

Hi Lou G,
I just picked up the vette from the dealer yesterday, I can only say that I am very happy with my first corvette.
Anyway Semper Paratus is the US Coast Guard motto and it translates to Always Ready, and I think that most people will agree, that a good example of being always ready was our response during and after Hurricane Katrina.
And for the rest of you guys I will take more pictures later, I am busy right now with tune-up, detailing, and small stuff here and there!

Sorry dude, it's back to SA for you

Semper Paratus means Always Prepared...

http://www.sacklunch.net/Latin/S/semperparatus.html

although it always confused with always ready. In reality, the underlying meaning is the same...bring it on!!!

Couldn't help myself man. 12+ years as a mud pirate in Uncle Sam's Confused Group kinda in the blood

A quick pit stop for me. Shadow! my friend, like you said the underlying meaning is the same since the Paratus meaning is : prepared, ready, equipped; (of persons) skilled. And please forgive me Always Ready is what they are teaching us in the Coast Guard these days. 2vettes, stevek, yellow, hi and thank you.

No biggie bro, JFWY

Ready, prepared, pick one///all get the job done!

Things are really changing these days though. I was watching a documentary on thye Glouchester station the other night on of al things, the weather channel

About the "mayday" call from a tanker (turned out to be a basically bogus). If the skipper had paid attention, he'd have realised they could walk to shore

Yes, they were cracked and taking on water, but in a shallow shoal, with no where to sink!!!

Anyway, they sent a 40 boat and IIRC a 44 torescue the tanker crew in some of the worse weather I've ever seen on the water.

There was also a guy, a pilot boat captain, (I can't recall the name right now) who was well respected among the CG groups there and a former Coastie, who had assisted in numerous rescues and had received numerous awards from the CG

One of the CG vessels lost power and nav and were DIW in massive sea conditions.

This guy loaded up and headed out to assist the CG crew.

The crew got the engines back and made it to a nearby port.

The pilot boat capt. lost nav and was having a real tough time, but from his radio comms, you could tell he was trained Cool, calm, collected.

Bottom line...he and his crew lost thier lives trying to save one of his own (the Coasties in distress)

I doubt he would have had it any other way

I guess once it's in you, it never goes away...

They said that since that time, the CG has changed it's outlook on rescues. I remember telling my Chief one time, that the book say's we have to go out...it doesn't say we have to come back

...thats changed now...Thank goodness!

You stay safe out there my seagoing friend.

Gordon
