What this forum is for

This idea was presented several weeks ago, and I think it has merit to be included on this site.

What this is for is to offer a clearing house type forum where members can come here and post their HELP WANTED looking for advice or outright hands on help with something that is outside their own expertise. Members are also welcome to post the types of expertise and hands on help they would be willing to offer other members as well. This does not necessarily mean to help for FREE, as if you are in a particular business and are offering services for hire, then that is perfectly acceptable here as well.

In cases where actual hands-on help is needed or offered, it may be a good idea to mention the locality you are in. And if you are offering services and such for pay, then you may want to include what you charge for these services as well.

This is certainly going to be rough around the edges, so please bear with us. Hopefully it will evolve into something that will wind up being helpful to all of us eventually.

Just so this thread doesn't wind up with a lot of those offerings, it will be locked. Please try to use a separate NEW thread for each request for help, or an offering of services, trying to make the topic line as informational as possible.

BTW, there is a field in your member's profile called Occupation/Profession that would be helpful if it were filled out with information that members could reference and search for.

BTW, in case you didn't know this, you can click on the link in the menu bar near the top of the screen that says Members List and that presents you with a screen of the members here in alphabetical order. There is a link to the right at the top that says Search Members. Click on that little down arrow to the right of the "Search Members" text and you see a drop down with a link that says Advanced Search. When you click on that, you get presented a screen that will allow you to search on the profile fields within the members list to find (hopefully!) what you are looking for.

So hopefully this will help this project somewhat.
