What's THIS? My daughter called today and said there was a snake in her house
(she lives 2 streets away) and could I come to get it. It's about 18" long, dark brown with
2 tan stripes running the length of the body. I think it's a little garden
snake, but I'm not a reptile expert. I took it out to the wooded area behind the house
and turned it loose. Poor little bugger couldn't get away from there fast enough!
And, to be truthful, neither could I!
Ain't par-ticularly fond of snakes, but don't harm them if I can help it. I think they
help to keep the bug population in check, and he (or she) probably didn't want
to be in the house any more than my daughter wanted him/her in there!

It's a garter snake. Completely harmless. Eats mostly insects, worms, salamanders and the like. We used to have a fair sized one hanging around here a while back, but haven't seen it lately. Generally if you go your way, they will go their's...

PHEW!!!!!! Glad it wasn't poisonous or I would need a change of skivvies!
