Corvette Challenge Race Nov 18th

Hey I justed wanted to let everyone know there is a Challenge drag race at Bradenton on Nov. 18th. They are a lot of fun and this is the final one of the season. Bradenton's Corvette Challenge brings out about 15 Vettes every race, but would love to field at least 25. It's a lot of fun, and it's bracket racing so you don't need to be the fastest car at the track to win.

I'll be there with bells-on, trying to avenge a First Round Runner-Up finish, then having my welfare-application (buy-back ) denied last week in Round #2.

Yeah..... we're hoping the '82 Cross-Fire runs 15s all-day-long.....
:ack2:  :crazy9: :sillyme: :mah: :thinkin: :notallthere: :willy_nilly: :brick2:

Me and Bob (Advancedauto) are putting on a thrash trying to get a new custom nitrous system installed and tuned for the race. I don't know if we will be able to get everything done in time, but we'll see. If not I'll just be running this event N/A.

:banghead: dang it that's same day of the Ultimate Corvette Party.Man can't make both events so have fun in B-Town :peelout 1:

..... I think legion21 may have some 'interesting' pictures to share with this Forum's members, when he has the chance.....
:shrug01:

I met him, and his partner-in-crime, "AA-Bob" , today at the Challenge, as-well-as other Corvette-owners with the guts to RACE their cars at the track:
as-usual, I lost first-round, applied for welfare (bought a buy-back card ), then survived a few rounds against a 9-second/140+ MPH C3, and another, nerwer Corvette, before losing in the Semi-Finals to the eventual Runner-Up.
:ack2:

You people missed a beautiful day at the stripe.....
:NoNo:

You-got-me..... I got freight-trained at the finish-line STRIPE by that 9-second car that I can't speel rite this evening.....

Well I had a blast, literally (LOL). As Glen eluded to I detonated my engine at the drag strip on Saturday. To put it in Glen's words, "I crop dusted the left lane for Al Quida!" I threw a couple of rods through the side of my engine at 6600 rpm.

its hard to see in the pictures but on the 1 pic that the starter is in, is a huge hole on the oil pan on the right side of the pic. the other pic is of the left side of the oil pan where some pieces of my rods came out that side. And the final pic of the ouch is the sick humor of AdvAutoBob, who so nicely put that on my windshield at the dragstrip (thanxs!).

I also want to thank everyone at the track who helped me a Bob push the car into the box, we couldn't have done it without you. Now I am done with my Oscar speach.

..... after keeping a smile on your face after that frustrating day, you DESERVE an award!!!!!

I'da helped you guys push the car, but my car was sitting in the water-box, waiting for the track to be cleared, and I didn't want the staff at BMP to disqualify me for abandoning the Cease-Fire on the track:
besides, getting blowed-off by Dan Bouldry's 9-second car @140+ MPH was kinda neat!
:crazy03:

Legion,

There is always a bright side to every situation, so I am assuming that you now have some rather nasty plans for the engine replacement in your C4?!?! There are a number of crate motors that will serve you well and maybe Momma will have one under the tree for you this year!

Rich

Yes I do have some serious plans for the rebuild. we are still building the parts list, but it will come back to life as a 422ci LSX World Products Warhawk engine with a F.A.S.T. XFI fuel injection. While we're in there we are going to install a TH400 tranny and pull the IRS and install a Moser 12 bolt rearend with mini tubs. I told Bob that I want 600-700 rwhp on motor and we will have a 400hp fogger system. He informed me that it is a tall order but completely achievable.

Greg

Tall order, yes...

It's a tall order, but doable.. To paraphrase the Ghostbusters, "No job is too big, no fee is too big!" :rofl1:

Seriously, a big thanks to all who helped us out at the track, and Greg WILL be back, and faster than ever!
