Default Project: 1971 Corvette 454 Turbo 400 located near Houston, TX $8K

1971 Corvette with '70s era 454 block and Turbo 400 transmission. Original green/tan car is now a dark red/black car. Clear blue title. No accidents.

Comes with long block & 781 heads, but it needs a rebuild. Holley valve covers. Moroso air cleaner. No carb, intake or water pump.

What it needs: an engine, a long hood and a radio.

Battery box needs to be repaired and it needs the rear compartment doors. I just make due with a carpeted piece of 1/2" wood. Fits nice enough.

What is has: solid body with a decent 5 foot paint job. All original glass. New driver and passenger outside "tall" mirrors in boxes.

Clean interior with gray Trans Am seats (driver side torn). Seat belts from a late model Camaro (need mounts). Clean 80/20 loop carpet with new floor mats. New sill plates, redyed interior and the gauges work nicely. Clock will need to be fixed though. New lock buttons, new window crank handles, new driver side door panel, new A-pillar & header mouldings. Non-tilt/tele. 4x6 Pioneer 3 way speakers and 6x9 Pioneer 3 way speakers. Wiring is installed. Crunch amp 400 watts with wiring for battery and in-line junction fuse. New parking brake arm rest. Fiber optics do work! New rearview mirror.

Rear suspension: rebuilt trailing arms from Van Steel with the 2.5" offset from VB&P. Stainless steel shims. Stainless steel hardware for the parking brakes. New parking brake cables that need to be installed. New flex line and trailing arm brake lines. VB&P sway bar, aluminum reinforcement bushing 360lb VB&P composite spring and extra long bolts, HD differential cover, new HD solid u-joints and hardware. New KYB shocks.

Gas tank: resealed and painted with POR-15. New locking gas cap.

Tires are in good condition but a few years old. No cracking, though. New chrome lug nuts. Aluminum wheels.

Front suspension: realigned a-arms with most parts sitting in boxes which are: new bearings, races & seals for spindles, 460lb VB&P springs, new KYB shocks, new flex brake lines, new idler arm for manual steering, new tie rods, new bump stops, new wheelwell flaps. VB&P sway bar with hardware.

Transmission rebuilt in 1997. Very few miles since then. But the odometer stopped working so I'd have to estimate about 20k since then. I have paperwork. Separate aluminum cooler with electric fan. Needs to be installed.

MISC: new wiper motor, new engine harness, new antenna cable, new parking brake cables & hardware. New speedometer and tachometer cables. All need to be installed. Plastic battery box. And about 4 boxes of miscellaneous parts I'm forgetting like pulleys, brackets, etc.

Rebuilt vacuum brake booster with new master cylinder.

Driveshaft: new HD sealed u-joints with new hardware.

Aluminum radiator with new dual 12" FlexLite fans and new GM relays. Needs wiring.

New B pillar w/s, t-top w/s and door w/s. Needs to be installed.

Front bumper is very nice, but the rears could be replated or replaced. Solid, though.

If my price is met at $8000, then these parts go along with the car: If not met then they will be sold separately.

Exhaust: Hooker chrome big block headers. Passenger side needs to have an oil spill cleaned off. No rust! $750, retails for $1200

New Vintage Air A/C & Heater System. Just needs control panel and condenser. Comes with polished compressor, drier, all lines and fittings, billet bracket for big block, firewall fitting block, etc. $650, retails for $1000

Track ready crossmember with 2.5 drop. Tig-welded. $75

New Tach Drive Distributor $75

I'm sure there is more that I'm missing, but I'd prefer those who are serious to come and see her. After I wash the dust off, I'll post pics. That should give people enough time to come up with questions till then.

I do have most of the receipts, the owner's manual and AIM manual. A build sheet was never found.

I live in Sugarland and I would like to sell her asap. However, to keep the negotiation fair, the more you want off the $8k, the more of the extra parts I'm going to keep starting with the A/C system.

At $8k, with an engine and a hood, you're getting a hell of a deal compared to any other projects I've seen listed in the past year anywhere. You simply can't buy a car like this anymore that only needs a good 2-3 month summer build to keep her going for years to come. If you already have an engine and there's plenty of leads around here, you might be cruising for less than $11k all in.
