Hi all:
Just finished installing the Flowmaster cat back system on my 1996 LT-4 and wanted to share my opinion for anyone thinking of getting the same system.
It is part number 17217 Force II with 50 series delta flow mufflers.
The install was fairly straight forward but I am sure glad I had access to a lift. It would have been a real pain in the butt with just jack stands. Like most aftermarket systems it took some time to get everything lined up and not rubbing anywhere, not a whole lot of room under there. I had to shim the left rear muffler mount a bit to get it just right.
The sound is just perfect for me, just what I was hoping for. If I was 20ish or 30ish I would probably consider it to quiet, but I'm in my fifties now and this is just right. Sounds real good at idle, nice and throaty but not obnoxious. Nice strong sound going through the gears but it never gets crazy loud. The best part is zero resonance at any usable RPM, it did manage to get a little at 1000 rpm in 5th, but who drives that way. I sure don't, 1500 is about as low as I ever get.
Hope this is helpful to anyone contemplating the same system.
