loosing brake pressure

as i come to a stop my brake pedal continues slowly until its to the floor and im not longer braking. its takes about 30 seconds to happen. but now it happens every time. also in a possible unrelated topic this is the second time ive seen some white smoke coming out from under the hood on the drivers side. any ideas? there is brake fluid in the resevoir. but no dipstick on the cap so im not sure how full it is supposed to be. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Bad master cylinder! Get it looked at, I drove one of my Z28's for an extended time like that' and one morning I tried to stop at a red light and the pedal went to the floor! Needless to say I sailed right through the light, fortunatly it was early on a Sunday and there was no traffic, but I learned my lesson!:nonod:
(the seals on the master cylinder piston are worn/defective allowing the brake fluid to slip past the seal, back into the resovoir, thus no apparent loss of fluid)

When/how often do you see the white smoke?

i was kind of hoping pinholes in brake lines as an excuse to go with some braided steel ones. but it does sounds like myster cylinder because no apparent fluid loss. this just started actually as soon as the white smoke started. it has only smokes 2x in 5 trips. both smoked when engine warmed up. all temps are good on gauges.

You will not regret braided steel ones. I never knew there was some brake fad with the other lines until I installed the braided line :D

$190 MASTER new ac-delco
$110 SLAVE new ac-delco

are these units rebuildable?

should i replace the slave w/ the master. also while im in that area is there anything else i should take a look at or possibly replace?

what does a decent set of braided put you back?

What are we work'n on the brakes or the clutch??:D:D:D The master for the brakes is about the same price at GMPartsdirect.com!! A GM rebuild kit is about $60.00!!

when the problem first started there was very little fluid loss. now its bad. low brake fluid dummy light is on. looks like one of the lines coming off the master cylinder because the fluid is hitting the header and theres fluid inderneath the unit. got to take a look at it tonight

It's probly leaking out of the P*ss hole at the back bottom of the master cylinder!!:thumbsup:My bet's still on the master cylinder going bad!!!:D

The master is gone ,It is leaking inside get a new one, need good brakes to stop the beast :lmao::lmao::lmao:

If I was you I go new Peace of Mind is you Life behind those brakes plus your money ,We not talking about a starter or altenator . The brakes is what you depend on the most for your safety . Consider the time to rebuild it versus a new take it off and just put it on . Dont forget to bleed your brakes and also consider new brake fluid also .

turns out hardline running from abs module to rear brakes burned up against the headers. just wanted to give a shout out to william of antivenom for helping me out and locating the leak.
