The silver over red will be a great combination. As you are probably aware, there is not a trim tag on a '62, so you have a lot of room for making changes and still have them get by the restoration fanatics. My friends '62 was originally a white car with red interior. He bought the car shortly after he got out of college, (early 80s) and it was red with black interior. He did not want to restore it to either of these colors because there were sooo many red and white '62s on the street.
He eventually decided on Almond Beige with Red interior. When he first told me this we were in the middle of putting the chassis back together. I asked him if he was sure he wanted to paint the car beige. Personally, I had never seen a beige car that I liked, so I was skeptical to say the least. When we finished the car it was absolutely beautiful. I just would not have pictured that color combination looking as good as it does. I remember when we went and had the paint mixed to the factory specs. I could not believe how much red went into that white base and did not turn it pink. I guess that is why the red interior worked so well with that color. I am sure your's will turn out great too. Keep us posted with your progress with pics of the car. Thanks Rich |
Wow that sure is looking good. 62 is my favorite model corvette!!!! I'd love to restore one with a nice pretty LS7 under the hood someday.
