To Wave or not to Wave

Ok, I have been in Jax for a little over a year now and I have noticed a a couple things about the Corvette owners over there.
Very few wave at other Corvettes. Why is that? I have passed Corvettes on two lane streets and I know they saw me waving but they did not. Whats up with that?:shrug01:

I think it's something thats just going by the wayside. Some people think it's silly (unless you know the person) and some people just wont take the time.

Over on another forum this would get 100000000 responses and go 50 pages:rofl1: :rofl1: Well, maybe next to the floormat and wax issues???:D

Hows this? :wavey: :wavey:

I wave every chance I get. Sometimes I feel like some of the new C6 owners aren't waving. It may be there first Vettes and don't know about it. All you can do is educate. I had a motorcycle for a year and I didn't know about the wave until someone told me about it. I made more of an effort after that.

Save the Wave! :wavey:

I find it hard to wave somtimes when you are busy shifting gears...Especially on my Harley..but I try to wave and don't let it bother me if the other driver does not..:)

Dark tint in FL hurts it too. I wave if the weathers good and the windows are down, but I don't zip the window down just to wave. Another problem is that in FL, TX, AZ and other dry warm states people own vettes "just because". They aren't all enthusiasts like we are. In colder snowy states where the car has to be stored for 6-7 months out of the year it's enthusiasts that own them.

Just my .02 cents

.Here's one for ya.............:wavey:

Yeah, I guess you all are right. I am just so damn addicted to my Corvette, it is my first Corvette and certainly not my last. I love every bit of the Corvette lifestyle....sometimes to the annoiance of my wife !!!!!
I know there are some people that just don't know.

Of course wouldn't you know, last night when I was returning to Jax from Pensacola, I was cruising into town headed east on Atlantic Blvd and saw three Vettes and all of em waved!

If I'm driving my vette and I see another vette, they get a wave whether I get one back or not.

Me too! :wavey: Even if I am not in the Vette I wave, but don't expect one back! HAHAHA

I always wave but sometimes I get tied up in traffiic and then wave after the other guy has passed by!! :D I have noticed that female Vette drivers here in Jax seldom, if ever, wave.

SAVE THE WAVE!!

HERE ARE SOME SAVE THE WAVE GRAPHICS FOR YOUR WEB PAGES!!

DON'T STOP WAVING!!!!!

Rich Z 10-02-2006 09:42 PM

I tend to wave all of the time, IF I notice the vette coming towards me. Sometimes I don't until it has just about passed me in oncoming traffic. And then certainly the other driver never saw the wave as it would only be visible through the windshield. My side glass is very heavily tinted.

Heck, I even have guys in pickup trucks waving to me around here! I guess a lot of people want to have a Corvette, and even if they don't have one now, they still like to show a bit of respect.

But I guess my advice would be to NOT wait for the other guy or gal to wave first. It's not the "gettin'" but the "givin'" that counts the most.

Well, I just got my vette 2 months or so ago, and wave at every other one I see! I have only gotten back maybe 2 or 3, but they all surprised me----I even got waved at first by a driver in a C5!!!

Very cool, this vette ownership/brotherhood...

Jax Corvette Club Too Old?

I have two Corvettes and have been to a couple of events with the Jax Corvette Club. I don't have a great impression of them since they were all over 60 (probably not, but seemed that way) and had trailer queens. More than anything they weren't very talkative or friendly. When I was telling one of the guys there that I'd just gotten back from a track day at Homestead with Henry Gilbert of Sports Car Driving Experience I got a look liked I'd just turned into an alien. I'm sure a day with Sports Car Driving Experience going all out at the track would push them over the edge.

If you aren't afraid of the edge check out Corvette High Performance Driving School at www.sportscardrivingexperience.com or call 800-768-1014. I have been to Bondurant twice and Spring Mountain once and Henry Gilbert and his team really know how to do it right.

Wave or Not to Wave

By the way, I wave at all Corvettes regardless of the car color or sexual orientation.

spiceman 01-19-2010 08:29 AM

Hey Jim great having the chance to send my thought's on the wave.
Reading the attached link on your topic of the wave, and reading the reply's in here I agree that most everyone is correct.
Our society nower day's doesn't favor "one being friendly" type attitudes. It's unfortunate that it carries over into or very special and personal "Corvette wave."
The wave was something very special back when Zora was alive, even he got the biggest charge out of some one waving to him. The reason I believe was American's finally had something very special of their own. Something very special in looks, performance and style. I also believe how FEW Corvettes one would see on the roads. Helll it was exciting just to see a Corvette speak nothing of owning and having the chance to wave. Hell now there how many out there compared to when Zora was the Cheif and we his Indians LOL. It was in deed a honor to wave. I know my wife got the biggest kick, very excited to tell me someone finally waved to her. But also tells me of the stuck up women who refuse to wave to her.
One woman which every day Bon waved to and after a few months, Bon gave up waving.
Suddenly the woman starts waving to Bon now, for which the two are happy now, LOL.
Anyway, Thanks Jim for letting me stick in my 2 cents.........Spice

Little FYI here. Corvettes typically, sell for more when less or fewer options apply.:welcome:

als2052 01-21-2010 07:58 AM

I wave all time regardless of response....
