What do YOU do...

Since I have gotten my Z, I have had my share of people revving their engines at me as some sort of challenge. Also had cars keep pace with me, maybe just looking or maybe trying to egg me on to punch it. While up in Georgia, there were about a half dozen kids in some beatup breadbox that was riding my rear bumper and then getting nose to nose with me and apparently trying to get me to race them. Like they had a dream or winning. When the driver hung outside his window a bit and swerved too close to me for comfort and the wife was about to roll down the window and sock him on the jaw, I decided that leaving him the dust was the best solution to that particular problem.

But generally speaking, I am not into competitive racing on Florida highways or roads. I would NOT be happy to have my vehicle confiscated even one little bit. So I basically just look over at them with a look on my face that says, "Are you KIDDING ME?" and laugh.

So what do you all do when these sorts of things happen to you? I guess the urge can be pretty powerful sometimes to show some punk kid with a car that cost less then your tires and wheels cost what a REAL car can do, but how often do you give in to that urge?

In all seriousness it doesn't happen to me that much. When it does I'll either ignore them and laugh, or I'll drive off quick and make a turn to avoid them. You never know how the person next to you drives....they may lose control and cause an accident with you right next to them. You know how hard it is to control a 130 HP FWD VTEC powerplant :crazy03:

Super dark tint,,,, then they can't tell if you see them acting a fool. If you are cruising with the windows down then each one is different. I normally don't race either, but after a bit of egging I had to spank an M3 Beemer recently. Gotta do whatchu gotta do!;)

You know, I know some sites prohibit "kill stories", but personally I find them pretty interesting, legalities not withstanding. I guess there could be some legal issues with admitting to a crime, however. Heck, I have seen videos of street races on some sites, so I guess it is nothing to worry about.

On this site, I'm not worried about it. If someone wants to post about such incidents, have at it.

Racing stories (if the story is even true) has to be witnessed by the officer. The exception to that is in a crash.

There's no way to prosecute someone for telling a story.

I forgot to mention in this post....or I'll spank them...:champagne:

I'm a safe, perfectly clean record driver but sometimes you have to show people where their car ranks on the food chain :crazy03: And in most cases, it's not particularly high! :D

I haven't has any real "encounters" in the Vette yet. I try to avoid racing if possible, too many cops and idiots around. But if it's safe I don't see a problem with a quick race every once and a while. Most races are very uneven so it's obvious who is faster within a few seconds, you don't need to hit 150MPH to claim victory.

I've had a few folks on the street act like they wanted to run. I pretty much ignore them. You can't look everywhere and it's just not worth risking a ticket, or jail time, or getting in an accident.:NoNo:
