Sure. You could also rebuild your own engine.

The transmission, auto or manual, is under the rear of the car. Hence no dipstick. There's a drain plug on the bottom and a fill plug on the top. At least on manuals, and I assume autos are similar. Getting fluid into the top fill plug is a royal pita, as you can imagine. When I had mine changed Greg used an old fuel pump to get it in, and was quite proud of himself for coming up with the timesaver. It did work a treat. I wouldn't dream of attempting it, pump or no, without a lift. This is one of those jobs where you just pay the man and be thankful. It's not much.
