135 gallons each tank (270 total) and we get between 7 and 11 mpg depending on how much weight we're hauling and mountains, etc. We generally have very light loads. It's pretty crazy, we hauled 12 lbs from Canada to Dallas, Texas one time. Another time we hauled 5 pallets that only weighed about 500 lbs total weight but was valued at 4.5 million $$!
We are company drivers so we have no overhead. The company pays for everything except our meals and they often cover that on holidays. We average about 86 cents a mile with this company and on a west coast to east coast trip we can roll 1200 miles a day. We average 4500 miles a week but we have had weeks that we turned in 7000.
We haul temperature controlled pharmaceuticals exclusively and I'm pretty sure the company is getting upwards of five dollars a mile from these big pharma companies. Temps are critical and we have the specialized equipment to do it. These loads have monitoring equipment onboard and I have witnessed some of our competition deliver out of temp range. (FedEx for one) We are a hot commodity.
