Yeah, I was pretty surprised at the cost.
We have been pricing a standing seam (unexposed fasteners) metal roof and best price we have gotten is right around $24K. Had one company try to do a bait and switch on us that luckily we caught.
All our pretty busy, apparently. We will have to wait two months before the actual install.
As for rain, we got 0.55" last night and today. We've actually been hoping for NO rain until we get the roof fixed. I did some patching with duct tape and caulk, but need to do some more work over the weekend. Still getting a small leak I want to patch up until the actual roof replacement can take place.
May tends to be the dry season around here, but knowing Murphy's Law, we will probably get weekly deluges and one or more tropical systems move in during June.

Lumber prices are stupidly high! Up 237% over last year they tell me. Fortunately the new house got a new roof in 2018 due to the hurricane. No one really ever expected one to reach all the way up into Georgia but looking on Google Maps you can see blue tarps everywhere! Anyway, we're replacing the windows (all 47 of them) using Window World to the tune of just under $24K. They were less than most others and have a true lifetime transferable warranty. Lots of renovations in our future. But that first step is painful.

Yeah, I believe the USA may be on the threshold of going into hyperinflation. We may be in for a very rocky road as our money becomes pretty much worthless and worth little more than being used as wall paper.
The government just cannot keep on printing up money with wild abandon without serious repercussions.

Personally, I don't know which thought is worse: (1) That there are enough people in this country dumb enough to vote for the pie in the sky socialist future the democrats are dangling on a hook, or (2) that the election was rigged and the fact that we have had our noses rubbed into the reality that we have absolutely NO say in our country any longer.
Either way, we have a very ugly road ahead of us.

True. So I just bought two Century Arms VSKA AK-47's and another 640 rounds.

Sure would like to go to a gunshow sometime soon. Not that I need anything, but heck no telling what might follow me home.

0.74" of rain today.
Spent all day yesterday trying to patch some leaks in the roof where it connects with the roof over top of the side porch (in the process of contracting to get a new roof installed, but that will be two months out), only to find out that I wasn't completely successful.
So I was looking forward to the rain to test my handiwork, but REALLY disappointed to find my workmanship not up to the task.

0.52" of rain today. Just to rub in the fact that my roof is still leaking.
