We are going to get dumped on today. Already have 0.82" and radar is showing a lot more to come.
The roofers cancelled out for today and said they will see how tomorrow goes. Chances are they will cancel out then too. I'm thinking that unless they work over the weekend, nothing will get done till next week. No rush on our part, so no big deal either way. Connie hurt herself working outside so will likely be laid up for several days anyway.
Well, didn't get too much more today, but basically light showers all day long.
Total came to 1.09" for the day.
The roofing company is supposed to call in the morning to let us know if they will start on the roof or not. I doubt that is going to happen with the way the forecast looks. Probably a washout for the entire week.
Heck, feels like I hurt myself too on Sunday. Using an axe to cut a stump near the house into chunks and I think I pulled some muscles in my abdomen doing that. Keeping the bottle of Aleve handy for a while. Didn't hurt a bit while I was doing it. Maybe the older I get the longer it takes for the muscles to realize I pushed them WAY too far.
Nov would be a better time for a roof. Had .20" Tues and that is it. Maybe tonite. Going offshore tonite until Sat.
Unfortunately, with the roof already leaking through the soffit over the side porch, and I can tell there is some decking rotted out there, I don't think I have the luxury of waiting any longer to have this done. The metal was paper thin and I could easily push my finger right through it.
I put a drone up in the air a while back to use it to inspect the roof to see if I could get by with just patching up that leaking section. No such luck. Quite a bit of rust, and even looks like nearly all the screws holding down the metal are either rusted and/or the metal itself they are driven through is rusted around those screws. I have no idea what caused all that rust right beside the cupola. So that is when I decided I needed to have the entire roof replaced.
This video was taken after I had done a quick and dirty patch job using duct tape and caulk. Since this did not prove to be effective, I have since then gone back up there and used and aluminum based peel and stick roofing product to cover most of that problem area. And it STILL leaks slightly. But this is going to have to do until the roof gets replaced. It was a killer on my back and legs doing that work.
We have also had that oak tree overhanging the roof removed since that video was taken as well. That REALLY was the cause of most of the problems in that area. The rest of the roof just seems to be mostly surface rust, as best I can tell.
Ah well, it is raining again. Got exactly 0.50" more rain today as of now.
Going to be iffy next week with the roof replacement scheduled. Monday and Tuesday look pretty good until the afternoons, but still a chance of scattered storms all week.
Too much luck and worn out and it was 8ft coming back. 90 miles of heading right into the seas.
Plenty of big red snapper 10 to 18lbs. Winds came out of the southeast around 9pm and blew 35 knts. So went from 3ft to 8ft fast. Long slow ride back for 90 miles at 9 knts.
