Default Oil Filter Magnets? Magnetic Oil Drain Plugs?

Being a new Vette owner , I am making every possible effort to baby my new baby. I have seen oil filter magnets and magnetic oil drain plugs in various places online. Do any of you use them and how well they work? Do you recommend any one type over another?

Same here. Stands to reason small metal filings end up in the oil flow which takes those filings past the oil filter and the oil pan. Oil filter should catch them, but hey, the magnets are more insurance that the filings are trapped and won't damage the engine. I have one on the oil filter and I have the magnetic oil pan plug. Can't hurt ............Tom

Default Ordering today!

I agree that this is probably the cheapest insurance I can buy, so I'm ordering mine today. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I've been thinking about this myself. But aren't the crank, camshaft, and rod bearings made out of a non magnetic material?

The aluminum blocked is sleeved with steel, and the rings are steel (I believe), so they would produce magnetic detritus. Where else would we expect to see metal filings caused from wear coming from in the engine?
