Hah! That's quite the coincidence! That's exactly what we got here too.

We got a bunch of rain over night and into the morning hours, but my darn weather station is only showing 0.05" of rain. Maybe I need to check it to see if it is full of leaves or something.

Well, it appears that the rain gauge on my weather station is officially broken. It's been raining like hell here, but not a drop is registering on it. Damn it. 2020 is bound and determined to be a crappy year, one way or another, to the very end.

Well, we are in a short break between storm fronts, so I replaced the weather station sending unit that I had sitting around here. I checked the rain gauge in the original one, but didn't see any obvious problem. I'm not sure I like the design anyway. It is just a pivoting cup that must register every time it becomes full and tips down to be emptied. Of course, in a very heavy rainfall, that cup would likely just STAY down the entire time, so the reading would be not even close to being accurate. Either that or the cap is designed to only allow enough water through to prevent that from happening, which would mean that the cap would quickly fill up and overflow anyway. Again, negating any possible accuracy during a heavy downpour.
Maybe this thing was designed for the Sahara Desert?

Just in the nick of time. Raining by the bucket full now. Rain gauge appears to be working. Getting high winds and lots of thunder too. Won't this make a special Christmas Eve to have the power knocked out?

we got 0.79" of rain from the second front after I replaced the sending unit. Temps are falling now and expected to reach around 30 degrees. Tomorrow is supposed to be colder, around 26 degrees or so.
Hopefully the wind won't blow the tarps off of Connie's pineapple patches.

Well, 2021 is off to a GRAND start. We have gotten 6.26" of rain here since 01-01-2021. 5.66" of that was today.
