aftermarket alarm

ive been advised (by an extremely reliable source) not to go with and aftermarket alarm. i would like to add on a remote start w/ alarm pager on the remote, but have heard that the electronics on the c5 are no suited for such a setup and i would be left stranded more often then detering a thief. just wondering if anyone has had good luck with an aftermarket alarm.

I haven't done one because of the keyless entry and keyless ignition.
I'd probably have to do away with the GM fob.. then how would I start the car?:shrug01:.

that remote is already on my x-mas list. i wish it were a bit smaller though.
