Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581
Thank you, everyone!

how many of you have done it and or recommend doing it. i always held off doing it on my f-body because it was pretty steep to replace on the you screwed up in the process.
I haven't done it for 2 reasons. First, as you mentioned, it helps protect the MAF sensor. In theory, nothing should be able to get to the sensor to damage it but who knows? Second, I've been told the screen helps eliminate airflow turbulence before it gets to the sensor. Does it actually work? Who knows.:shrug01: Bottom line is, I don't see anything to be gained by removing the screen so it stays in.
Isn't the MAF already descreened in later C5s? The one in my '02 Z06 doesn't have a screen on it. If that is the case, why would the later ones be more protected from abuse from the environment than the screened models?
If I remember correctly it's just the 02-04 Z06s that have the screen removed.
The 01's still have the screens and so do all 97-04 (ls1) coupes and verts.
Removing the screen you should have the maf table rescaled to reflect the increased air flow.
