dual climate control

my dual climate control apparently has stopped working. i really dont care too much, but i keep it at near circle K slurpee temps. sometimes i experience some people crying in the passenger seat. that side all of a sudden does not blow warm air. sounds like the problem will be much more work to fix then i really care to do. my car, my ac. dont like it, drive your train wreck, but if its an easy fix i may try. anyone else have this problem?

I think I had a similar problem a little while back. But mine wouldn't blow cold air on the passenger side. I believe it was caused by a bad actuator that works a flap that directs cold or warm air to the passenger side depending on the setting of the control. The problem is getting to it. Basically requires digging deep into the dash to get to it. I had the dealership do it, and it wasn't real cheap to fix because of the labor involved. The tech put some scratches on my steering wheel, so I wasn't real happy about that collateral damage on top of the cost.

It could also be the control itself at fault, but there are some tests shown in the service manual to isolate the fault.

Good luck!

We had a 04 Monte Carlo that did the same thing,It was the actuator,10$ part but 4 hours of labor,A real pain in the A.. to fix, behind the heater core, complete removel of the dash.

When the dual climate goes out of sync, there is an easy procedure that works most of the time. Disconnect battery, reconnect battery. turn on ignition but don't start, turn both knobs full right (hot), then full left(cold). turn on engine and should be in sync. Unless there is a defective actuator.
