Hi to everyone, I just signed up with Corvette Florida.com yesterday. I
got my first corvette last November, after a search of about 18 months.
She's a 1968 Rally Red Vert. with matching #'s 327/350hp 4 speed. She's not a show car but a great driver, and is in great shape. I'm including a few pictures at the end of this post. I do have a question for anyone over in my
part of the state (St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach Counties). I want to get my alignment checked and my wheels balanced, ( I've got a shimmy when driving between 58-65mph, then it smoothes out. I found a good corvette shop in Stuart, but he doesn't do balancing or alignments. I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a shop. Would greatly appreciate the information. Well going to sign off for know just wanted to say Hi , and am looking forward to learning alot from this forum and its members, I'm definitely a Newbie! when it comes to Corvettes.

:welcome: to the site!

That was VERY wise of you to post pics right off the bat. Saved a lot of people from having to ask for them..... ;)

:wavey: :welcome: to the site! Awesome looking piece of History you have there!
I'm sure someone will be along shortly to give you advise on a shop in your area, so sit tight.
Again, Welcome .

Hey, Welcome to the Gang :welcome:, You have a beautiful classic there. I would suggest some 3M Clear Bra to protect the paint if it is in good condition. If the paint is dinged in some areas like the hood or rocker panels, then wait and use the 3M stuff after you repaint it. Just my .02 worth.:wavey:

Thanks

Hi,

Just wanted to say thanks for the warm welcome and information
on the 3M clear bra. Hadn't heard of it before. Paints not in bad
shape but I'll wait till I get it re-painted.

Hey you are welcome. the best guy for the 3M Bra that I know is Ryan Burroughs. He can be reached at 813-505-3868. he lives near Brandon and did my vette recently. i can,t say enough about the quality of his work. I even had a friend from Jacksonville who drove over here to see him and was very very pleased with his workmanship. Ryan is also a vendor for this forum. When you are ready give him a shout and he can go over prices and areas you are interested in protecting. Feel free to use me as a reference and please tell him i sent you. Best of luck. Mark:wavey: :welcome:

We are blessed to have a guy that only works on Vettes in our area. He has been around a very long time. His name is Karl and he runs Ask Auto.
Let me know if you need anymore particulars.
I'm new here as well. We should run into each other at Treasure Coast Mall show one of these days

Very nice car. I am amazed how clean it is especially underneath. How many miles ? As far as the alignment goes I would suggest this. On the early cars lining up the rear end can be quite tedious, there are shims that adjust the rear trailing arms and not a lot of room to work in there. GM used two kinds of shims back then, some had slotted holes where they went over the bolts and some had just holes. Now the slotted shims are no problem as they just slide out, but the shims with just holes can only be removed by taking out the 6 inch bolt. Now there are bushings in the trailing arm there that are two piece and when installed properly they should be pressed in from each side, then the sleeve should be peened over to keep everything in place. I'm not saying that the bushings could just fall out but there is the possibility of encountering a problem if they have been replaced and not installed properly. I personally would check the tires first then try to find an alignment specialist. Check around at some car shows and ask people, maybe a place that does restorations and ask, but I would definately find someone who has some experience with 63-79 Vettes to do the alignment. Beautiful car.
