• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

Damn... Look at how well developed that eye is on that sucker! I hope it doesn't make landfall anywhere...

Yep, this one has been an almost perfectly defined storm now for several days and has maintained it's strength pretty well.

The "spagetti models" show it "possibly" making some laadfall around Nova Scotia. Earlier landfall, if it makes it, would be around the Outer Banks.

Looks like pretty much a non-event for Florida if that though keeps coming East.

Howdy boys! It's been a while. Sorry I haven't returned your call Gordon. It seems the more technically advanced we get gadget wise, the more impersonal I seem to become. Texting, facebook, Twitter, yada yada...

As a person who just loves weather, I should of been a meteorologist! I guess I'll settle for just taking pics of weather instead. Anyway, that is one beautiful storm...or was anyway. What a gorgeous eye. Have you ever experienced a direct hit? In 1985 I lived on Long Island and went through Hurricane Gloria, including the eye. What an amazing thing to be in the middle of that storm and then have the eye pass over and the weather totally calm. Then comes the wrath again.

I'll try to stay in touch a little better. Are you going to the Dimmitt show next month? I'm gonna stop by for a few hours. Hopefully I'll catch you there.

Don't know if I'll make the Dimmitt show or not. If so, I'll try to look you up.

As for the storm, yes, it was perfectly defined. A textbook configuration.

I'm a native Floridian and have been since birth (late 50's). Been through every one that's come through.

My daad taught me as a kid about the eye. We used to go outside for a few minutes and assess damage befoer the back side hit.

Don't want to be caught outside then:eek:

Don't worry about the comms man. I don't myspace, face book or any of that chit.

I have text, a few email addresses and a phone.
IF they can't get me through those mediums, I 'probably don't want/need to talk to them anyway:lmao:

The only time I twitter is after sex. Just for a second thought. More like a shudder, then I go to sleep...really pissed the ole' lady off,...:rofl1::rofl1:

Yeah! You know, I think I could really get into being one of those tornado chasers in the midwest. Sounds like a hell of a lot of fun to me, for some reason. And honestly, one of the most interesting things I love to do is to watch a good storm over the Gulf of Mexico. If I could get my damned car back home, Connie and I would like to take a week to head on down to Englewood or Sanibel.
