will have to get the vette towed after work. of course the auto breaks down when ive got a huge project going out today. i plan on requesting a flat bed. any other things i need to take into consideration when getting a corvette towed? i thought these days where over once i got out of the f-body, but i suppose it happens to everyone. will fill everyone in after work and after fixed. on a side note i may have a good, used c5 alternator for sale. when i get done with everything else ill have to test it.
 
Make sure they use 2X4's to lift the front wheels up as the nose gets near the ramp.... The boards will lessen the angle of the flat bed ramp. If the tow truck driver knows anything about Vettes he will do this automatically. A good truck driver will only scrape the flexibile plastic air dam (which bounces back as it's designed to flex).

:iagree: Good advice. A lot of drivers don't like towing 'vettes because they don't know how to do it properly.
 
Where would be a good place for them to place the tow hook to drag the car up onto the bed? I would imagine some damage could be done if that hook is improperly placed.
 
larrys towing came within 15 minutes of call (ive got AAA, not sure if you can request a carrier). driver had the wood ramps and did a great job. the front damn is divided in 3 sections and in each division there is a slot and an opening. the cables went through them and didnt cause any damage. got the car up last night with a jack and stands. found the problem. the red wire going from battery to starter had melted on to one of the headers. going to have to relocate the wires and use some head shields for them.
 
i just shuddered thinking of lt1 wires. that was the biggest pain and took forever. looking forward to doing my wires this weekend. 20 minutes. done.
 
Glad you found the problem and the tow went well. Man, you're not kidding about LT1 wires. OUCH!!:eek: I still carry the scars.

Say what you want about LTs erik, yours still fires up no matter what, I cant belive that car
 
this is absolutely true. car sat for a year. and fired up with just a jump start. the formula still needs some attention though. its getting there on the list. just seems when i get the things done, 2x as much new stuff comes up. gotta fix the vette now, then a co-workers car car so i can get the boat, pull that motor and see where im at with that. most likely going to rebuild that motor. need to figure out where im going to live, our lease is up. move. the formula is after all that. in the meantime though ive heard it works well jump starting lawn mowers
