ive got to change my oil pressure sensor. while ive got the intake manifold removed is there anything else i should consider replacing or check?

The oil pressure sensors have beem a chronic problem for some. If it were my car, I'd remote mount the sensor by using tubing in place of the OEM sensor location and run it to a more convenient location for the sensor. Then, if it failed again, I wouldn't have to remove the intake to replace the sensor.

It's probally not a bad idea to clean the Throttle Body and Maf while they are in your hand using some brake parts cleaner or carb cleaner. Watch out for the wires in the maf if you happen to bump into them it can really wreak havoc in the computer.

thanks for the good info. now doing this remote oil pressure sensor. has anyone else done it? people used to talk about moving several sensors for one reason or another. im just a bit hesitant becuase i know they are very finicky. just wanted to hear that someone else had done it successfully. thanks

It had been right there on all gen III/IV motors. By extending it to somewhere else all I see is trouble. Seems like the sensor gets atleast 40k miles before giving any signs of being bad and pulling the m anifold is not hard. I can do the whole job in 45 minutes. My Vote is leave it alone.

thats pretty much how i feel. by adding wire lenght to the sensor your changing the ohms. think ill remove the manifold. anything i should know before i do it?

Actually, if you even have to splice in some more wire, the change in resistance is negligible. How many miles do you have on the original sender?
