Hey does it have alot of good low end bass thump? I have this system in my Family Room and it does a good job of ratteling things when it's up to theater sound volume. A good DVD player with an Optical Audio source makes a difference over rca jacks. Like RichZ said, if your system is good so far maybe just a good powered sub will work. Another thing I like about this system is that it does have good lows without the sub even on. Yes good speaker cables are a must.
