Default Safety of popular health and beauty brands

We saw a news special and they listed this website. It has over a thousand products in the database. It's mostly make-up, but it does have deodorants, toothpaste and other assorted products. You should check to see if the products you use have a cancer hazard (many do), or whether it's harmful to the environment or animals.

Did you know: the government cannot mandate safety studies of cosmetics, and only 11 percent of the 10,500 ingredients FDA has documented in products have been assessed for safety by the cosmetic industry's review panel. Explore your products with Skin Deep's in-depth rating guides, and find safer choices for you and your family.

The companies listed below have pledged to not use chemicals that are known or strongly suspected of causing cancer, mutation or birth defects in their products and to implement substitution plans that replace hazardous materials with safer alternatives in every market they serve. Several major cosmetics companies, including OPI, Avon, Estee Lauder, L'Oreal, Revlon, Proctor & Gamble and Unilever have thus far refused to sign the Compact for Safe Cosmetics.
