Default Pipin hott turbos!!

Does anyone use turbo timers in vettes? I have not read how everybody cools their systems down!! When i was into imports i would either have a turbo timer on my car or i would have to sit in the car idling for a minute or two so the oil would not "coke" inside the snails... Do you guys just not worry about that at all or what?? Just curious...

Well it appears that the STS system comes with a timer included in the system, even though those rear mounted turbos don't get as hot as the front mounted ones will. Whenever I shut down my car, I can hear something running for about a minute or two afterwards, quite likely the electric oil pump being used to continue flowing oil through the turbos.

is an electric oil pump OEM on a vette? thanks for the reply Rich.

Would you happen to have a pic of how your turbos are mounted? Also what size turbos do you have?

No, it's not OEM. The STS kit comes with an electric oil pump that is used to pump the oil BACK from the turbos. I am fuzzy about the details, but the way I understand it is that the oil is fed to the turbos via gravity and the electic oil pump is used to draw the oil back up front to the engine bay. Matter of fact, there is an alarm in the system that will go off if the oil pump fails.

Sorry, but no, I don't have pics. Wouldn't be able to get very good ones without the car being on a lift, which I do not have available. But I think there are some pics on the site at http://www.STSturbo.com. There was also an install video floating around for a while as well that may be linked on their site.

Here's a link to some install pics -> http://www.ststurbo.com/c5_corvette_installation_pics

As for the size of the turbos, beats me. Whatever comes stock with their kit, I guess. I don't know if you caught that other thread where Greg at AntiVenom (who installed the STS kit for me) talked to some STS reps and they are going to replace my turbos with ball bearing models AND have the housings hot coated. That is great of STS and outstanding of Greg to have paved the way for this to happen.... I simply made a comment that if I had had this to do all over again, THOSE are the two things I would definitely do.

Greg still needs to put the tips on Rich.
The car is still down, Greg's been real busy plus the way my rockers are it's a bit of an issue to get it on his lift until he gets it modified.
Needs a clutch, maybe some tranny work, fuel system, and I'm dealing with an overheating problem.

Don't have a number, last time on the dyno the tires were spinning and had to shut it down.
Breaks the tires lose on the hwy when the boost kicks in from a 100 mph roll out.
