Default Lifting the C5 Corvette

Well, I was at Tire Kingdom today finally getting the correct battery put in. I wanted an Orbital, just like the original one that was replaced under warranty.

While I was waiting to have this done, I saw a couple of techs discussing something near my car, so I wandered on over. One of the guys turned to me and told me he was telling the less senior tech how to correctly lift a Corvette. According to him, you need to pop the hood and the trunk, and open both doors or at least open the windows half way. Otherwise the car will flex, ruining the front fenders and rear quarter panels. I just looked at him. I mentioned that a puck was needed to lift the car by specific points, otherwise the rocker panels could get damaged. He said, no, you just have to open the car up.

I just turned and walked away, not seeing any reason to argue with the guy.

Note to self: DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CAR INTO A SERVICE BAY AT TIRE KINGDOM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES....

While in the customer area, I heard two other guys talking about how a friend of theirs advanced the timing on a vehicle and it caused the computer to overheat and shut down.

Without a doubt, I had wandered into the twilight zone...

Probably why they work at Tire Kingdom instead of a dealer! Even when I worked for the dealer there were only two technicians out of the twenty two that worked there that I would let work on my cars.
