Christmas tunes (What do you listen to)?
While cruising around, If anything at all?
I'll bet the few peope that even look at this thread are thinkng "WTH".
Anyway,
I usually start rocking in July or August, weird huh.
My personal fovorite is the Trans Siberian Orchestra.
Although they play alot of the traditional songs (with and without vocals)They're quite different from the traditional music some of you may be used to.
While i'm sure many of you have heard of them, to those that haven't, Check them out. You may actually like them!!!
Me personally, I enjoy pulling up next to "kids" who are thumping, then drowning them out with my stuff.
Also, I've heard Mannheim Steamroller is having a concert, I believe in December? I may just go to that.
I'm always looking for NEW music to listen to, so fill me in!!!
Thanks,
~Ray

"WTH"!
I don't listen to Christmas tunes, even at Christmas time. I would rather listen to Loggins, Buffet, Chicago, Elton John, etc.

Ray, I don't listen to a whole lot of Christmas music. But here are a couple of my favorites. Harry Connick Jr. Brian Setzer Orchestra. Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Of course the humor of the Bob Rivers Twisted Comedy Christmas. Every time I hear "The Twelve Pains of Christmas", I crack up! I don't usually start listening until mid-December though. The weather just doesn't get me into the spirit.
By the way, do you know the history of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra? They were originally called Savatage. It was a local Tampa/Clearwater band. I have one of their metal cd's from back in the day.
There were two brothers, Jon and Criss Oliva, in the band. Criss was killed by a drunk driver on U.S. 301, on his way to Livestock in Zephyrhills, in 1993. Jon continued with the band. The driver of the vehicle that killed him, had a record of drunk driving and a blood alcohol content of .294! He was sentenced to 5 years. Criss' widow died last year. I don't remember the details.
The cd "Dead Winter Dead" has the ever popular "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24" on it. It was their second rock opera.
Anyway, thought you might like to know the history. Here is a link to the information. Some of it was from memory, but most of it from here.

You're exactly right, The weather does damper the spirit a tad.
All the more reason to liven things up a bit, with some Good old fashion Sounds of the Season!!!IMHO
Thanks for the history lesson by the way. I knew absolutely nothing of the history of the band till now.
I do know they play some very cool tunes though!
I remember a band named Savatage, but was I more into Heavy Metal back in the day.
I also like Harry Connic Jr. Knew nothing of him till the movie "Memphis Belle" came out.
Appreciate your feedback, and I will surely check out the others you've mentioned.

We really like the warm weather for the holidays! We’ve been spending the holidays in Florida for over 10 years. I don’t want anything to do with decorating when it so cold out. It’s so nice to be able to walk outside and not get frostbite going from your car to a store. First night is not much fun when you can’t wait to get warm. I like to call my brother in CT from the pool listening to Christmas music, I know he appreciates it.
I can just look at the weather channel for snow

Since I only listen to Christmas music for a short time, I like to hear almost any of it from the funny chipmunks to Handel's Messiah and Bing Crosby and even some country. I've got a CD by Mannheim Steamroller somewhere, too.
It's all good

Hmmmm, Xmas music.... ok, i like Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, the Chipmonks, Frank Sinatra, and there are others but I can't remember them at the moment. Next month when we start playing them again is when I'll remember them again-Duh! What I don't like is the modern version of xmas music where its all chopped up and the tempo is really increased.
