Default front cowl cutout

maybe im missing something but it seems that i could easily pop out my front cowls (ones with the fog light) and carefully cutout the center effectively bringing cold air directly to my k&n intake. anyone else do this or have some advice against it?

I have heard of other people doing that and actually saw a picture of it on one of the forums but don'y remember where. You mightwant to talk to Antivenom or RevExtreme or Auto XTC and get their feedback. Hope this helps. Also Gannet on this FORUM is a walking wealth of Corvette Knowledge. Mark

My C5Z has those vented directly into the engine department. As to whether this is standard on the Z06, I don't really know, as this is how I got it when I bought the car used. One issue you will have is that if you drive in the rain, water will be blowing up into the engine compartment.

Lots of people do this, or you can buy ones already cut. I wouldn't cut the whole thing out, just cut holes or slats so there is still some support. Downsides are that the engine compartment will get a whole lot dirtier, and wind resistance at very high speeds will suffer.
