Not too shabby...but the General did it 53 years ago!
The original emblem designed for the 53 Corvette was to have an American Flag with the checkered flag...then the lawyers got involved!
Apparently in those days of the Cold War and "Commies" nobody messed with the flag except Uncle Sam himself.
The original emblem (one of which is in the NCM) was replaced right before the Waldorf Motorama show that introduced the Corvette with another; the American flag became red with the Chevrolet emblem but that didn't seem like enough. Someone in Detroit figured that since "Chevrolet" was a French name and the fleur-de-lis was French looking...viola!
