Default C5 (2000) fuel gauge issue...BULLETIN!

Tx Momma's C5 fuel gauge began acting up on Monday. Come to fing out it's a result of the fuel sensors going bad.
Apparently there's been a Bulletin put out by GM that this is common for the 2000 year model vettes.
I do Not know if this is for ALL year model C5's or not.
I don't know how to find out either (on the internet).

It's been always a problem with C5 Fuel gages!!Have you tried to putting a bottle of Techtron in your C5,Yank?? Might take a couple tanks but I'd bet it will fix it!! Try it and see!!I really Hope it does,It's a really sucky Job changing the units in the tanks!!

on my first fill up, after i had bought the car i filled up with Mobil1. First start up my gauge when to full then back to empty, then to 1/4 left then slowly and I mean slowly started going to full. Now ever since ownership i use mobil1 exclusively and have had no more issues.

Techron may help or shell gas, but i think if its just now causing issues for you, it may actually be your sensors and I have heard its costly to repair.

Try different gas and hope for the best.

fyi... I shortly after I purchased my 01 ZO6, the fuel gauge problem came up. I knew nothing about it the issue at the time. I did some research and decided to try the techron thing before I took her in for service.

Put the techron in the tank (once) and began running ONLY shell premium. After a couple of tankfuls the problem went away and hasn't occured since. That was back in April.

Fuel gage problems have plagued C-5's for a while now. Some of it is supposedly the high sulphur content in some brands. My '02 Z has had issues off and on but running gas with techron in it has eliminated any more problems.

If it makes you feel any better, you can't trust the fuel guage on the early C4's with the *&$#@ star wars dash either! Just under a 1/4 tank and you're "pushin' a the tank"...literally! It's a heavy MOFO too!!
