Default Torque setting of wheel lug nuts

Just had new set of tire mounted on the rear (Michelin PS-2) and noticed the mechanic used a torque wrench for the final tightening of the lug nuts. I asked the service manager what setting was being used and he said 100 ft lbs. I thought this was kind of high, and looked into the owners manual that came with my vette (c-6 = 2007), but there is no reference there to torque settings when tightening the lug nuts.

I sometimes remove my wheels at home to thoroughly clean the inside of the rims, and just tighten the lugs as far as I can go, which obviously means different torque settings not using a torque wrench.

Any thoughts as to what are the proper torque settings from the "tinkering" community out there....????
