You are absolutely correct Jack! I just did not realize how bad until I put the GS D3s on. Not only has the ride and handling improved, but my RunCraps howled so bad it sounded like the rear was going up. I must admit I had scrubbed the corners off the tires doing some autocrossing, but I just could not stand the howling any longer. They only had 10K miles on them but they had to go!

I am driving the '01 down to the house in Ft. Myers the first week in August and I was not going to deal with the howl for 1100 miles each way. A number of couples from my Maryland club decided to attend the NCCC convention the first week in August. So, I am leading anywhere from 3 to 6 Vettes down to Orlando and arriving on the 5th. When I saw the registration cost for this years convention, my wife and I decided that we are dropping people in Orlando and just coming to Ft. Myers for the week. Needed different tires than the RunCraps to make the trip.

Maybe we will see some of the west coast forum in August?

You can pull up the tire your looking for and it has a chart that gives the sizes available and the wheel width requirement. Then you can call and talk to a rep and they seem to shoot from the hip.

I ordered my tires on a Friday and they were delivered by UPS the following Monday morning. An 01 Vert comes with 245/45-17s on the front and 275/40-18s on the rear. I moved up a size on each by going 255/40-17s on the front and 285/35-18s on the rear. No problems with this setup so far on my vert, nor did I expect it. The Zs come with larger tires than the verts do, I would talk to Tire Rack and see what they recommend.

That sounds sweet! How about a pic of that set up.

Buckeye,

Give me a day or two and I'll post a couple picks of the tires. It is so freakin hot here in Maryland at the moment (over 100 today, wish I was at my house in Ft. Myers), that the garage is stifling!

Bear with me a day or two!

Buckeye,

Here are a couple pics of the front tires, as requested.

Hope this gives you what you want. If there is some other angle, let me know!

Boy, them baby's ought to sling some water on a rainy day. I bet their quiet too.
Those are nice close-up's. How about one standing back from the car so I can see the profile. Are those 40's or 45's?

Anyway, nice post!

The fronts are 255 40x17 and the rears are 285 35x18. If I get home tomorrow before the sun goes down, I'll pull it out of the garage and give you a profile shot.

Well, my 15,000 mile 2002 Convert RR tire went to 16 lbs today, rather disappointing. I will have to look into new tires as the runflats can not be repaired. The other three look great, but I don't like to seperate and mix and match. I'm looking for suggestions......and pricing

Backseat,

take my word for it, dump the Run Flats. Mine only had 10K miles on them with about half tread left, and I did not care. They are junk. You will not believe the ride difference with a non run flat tire. And if you buy a decent tire you will also be amazed at the handling improvement you will see. IMO!

at $413 per replacement tire, I think I can do better , and I like what you have shown and talked about. what is GS D3? I have asked the dealer about the road noise, thinking it was the wheel bearings. Looking at the Tire Rack website now..
