Sorry to butt in but you are absolutely correct. Most folks, even somewhat car smart folks, think corvettes are gas hogs. When I tell them my 405 horse Z06 gets 28 MPH on the hiway their jaw hits the floor. Half the time they don't believe me until I show them.

Latest out from Bowling Green: They will be closing down for one week in October, laying off some workers to reduce inventory...

Same here, Somedays when I have an easy service call, I will take my Vette. You should see the look on their faces when they open the door for their "bugman" and see a Corvette in their driveway. After all the comments are put aside, we get to driving a "gas guzzler", and "how can I afford the gas these days"?

When I tell them I get over 30mpg on the hiway and 20's around town they look at me like I just told them I was an alien from another planet, not to mention that my service truck gets about 12mpg. They cant believe that a cool looking American Sports Car car get's better gas mileage than their "consumers report" best buy import.

Who knows, maybe I have planted a seed for a future 'Vetter.
