I am glad we are getting the rain right now. My job mainly deals with and depends on the peanut industry. we were in such a drought in January the projected peanut pricing for 2012 crop was $1250 / ton. since we have been getting the rain, at the almost perfect times and increments those projections have been lowered, month by month mind you, to their current pricing and holding at $649 / ton. the reason being is that almost 2x the volume was planted this year when compared to last year. last year the quality was CRAP. this year looks to be one of the better years in the last 7 I have been doing this, with the 2004 crop year being the last "good" crop the south east has had.

so next time you want a peanut butter sammich, a Snickers bar, Payday, are on an airplane or at the bar eating the free peanuts, thank a farmer and be thankful for the rain, because without the rain, your peanut butter price will skyrocket (proof of that was last year when prices almost doubled) or the snickers will have fewer peanuts or that payday won't look near as appetizing when you actually look at the quality of the peanuts on the outside.

hopefully they can have a good harvest season without having to dodge tropical storms and then HOPEFULLY the Pecan trees will get the water they need to produce a bountiful crop this year as they are in the same slump when it comes to Quality and Quantity over the last few years. (BTW, Pecans help pay my bills too)

Carry on, and bring more rain, just not all at once....lol

There's a cruise night on Tuesdays that has been getting rained out lately. Seems like the rain comes after everyone's all set up.

Well, Benjamin, now you have me curious about what exactly you do. Man, I LOVE peanuts and pecans. Lately I haven't been all that thrilled about the quality of the nuts I've bought lately. So it's nice to hear that the quality might be picking up somewhat.

Oh yeah, it's raining here again today. The local Corvette club is supposed to have an outing to the Monticello area, but I'm wondering it the weather is going to wash out that idea. Just no fun driving ANYWHERE in the rain.

Got up this morning around 6:30 and Connie had the radar map on her laptop. Showed a line of storms coming in from the west (what a surprise!), so we just went back to bed. No trip out to Monticello for us today. Rain started beating on the roof of the house about 8:45, and it's still drizzling now.

Seriously, I've never seen so many mushrooms coming out of the ground around here before.....

Well, my skin is beginning to get cracked and flaky looking. Haven't had any rain for 24 hours. Oh, I think my gills are beginning to recede as well. But I guess by Tuesday Isaac will make up for this mini drought we are having.

Unhappy Who'll Stop the Rain?

Here's hoping this looooooooooong rainy season is near an end. I've seen enough rain for a year this summer. No more complaining about droughts, folks.
