And so can any other tuner. The data really doesn't care which program is being used to view and manipulate it.
So when someone says they are an EFI Live tuner, that's because they have spent the money on the software and licenses and have learned to use that particular tool. It has nothing at all to do with what programming tool the previous tuner used on the car.
But what is IMPORTANT, is that the person using whatever tool they choose to in order to do the programing be proficient in that particular method of tuning.

Amen. Phil is well able to do the tune,so is greg at Antivenom or myself.
Up near you there is another tuner (can't remember the name now) that is very respected as well.

Well a fly that might be in this ointment is that Chris Harwood has been noted to have a habit of locking the tunes on some cars he has done. If he has done that to your car, that could put you into yet another bind.

It can be overwritten, not modified.

Yeah, I'd really like to know if that is the case or not. If it were that simple to bypass the tune, then why bother having that option in the tuning software?
I actually emailed EFI Live about this and they said there was nothing that could be done if someone locked the tune and refused to give you the password to unlock it. They said that the PCM would have to be replaced.
I'm sure the tuning companies would have written a backdoor password into their code, but not sure under what it would take to get that out of them. Obviously once it was out, then it would become common knowledge.

Looks like we need Tracy or Phil to comment. The tuner does not own your PCM.

I doubt if I would have any luck getting anything out of Harwood at this point in time.

Anyone with a TechII (GM service flash unit) can flash it to stock and that is what any good tuner would want to start with. If you dn't have one available Dave Emanual (a extremely good tuner!) can unlock it I bet as he is the one that taught Chris to tune....
His Company is Random Technologies (do a search if needed).
I some cases we have just trailered a car to the local chevy dealer and paid the $75 for them to flash it to stock, and then we dive in.

Ya if its locked, your kind of screwed for that calibration.
I think there are three reasons why tuner lock their tunes.
1) they suck at tuning and dont want to show anyone how much they suck
2) affraid someone will modify their tune then post the tune and complain about it ( that's why I keep all my changes and back them up)
3) they want you to only go to them for future tuning.
I dont lock mine. I have no problem anyone inspecting my tunes. Feed back doesnt bother me. God forbid something happen to me, so many people would be screwed if they wanted further tuning.
The way I look at it is you paid for the tune. Its your tune. If you want to copy it and sell 100 copies, its your tune.

It will be another few weeks before the motor is ready to fire.had to order new pistons today and they won't be here until wed or thur.It looks like it will be January before it's ready. The only tuner I know in Panama is orangman customs. They want $750 to tune it using HP. I have time to figure something else out on what to do about the tune.
