Maybe if the Constitution wasn't changed to allow voting for non property owners we might be in better shape. It's almost like they knew we would eventually have a federal income tax.

Maybe only slightly better for the country but disastrous for him and the Pub club.
The Dem congress would still not have confirmed any of his cabinet appointees or Supreme Court nominee. The economy might have been a little better assuming McCain didn’t threaten higher tax burdens from out of control borrowing and spending but he probably would have because that would be the only thing he could get passed. I really don’t see that McCain would have been able to get anything done with a totally pissed off Dem Congress. I think Congress would be calling the shots (not much different than today) and blaming him for all it’s failures.
The Dems would be constantly pounding away at how bad things are and how much worse they are going to become. By now, all our problems we have today would be because of McCain following the same failed ideas of Bush. We would have been constantly been told by the MSM that if the American people would have been smart enough to elect the Messiah, we would all be enjoying a carefree life in a transformed world of peace and prosperity by now.
McCain’s presidency would have been dead in the water from election day and would have been remembered in history as one of the worst this country has ever seen. As much as I don’t agree with his liberal politics, as a military hero he doesn’t deserve to be remembered that way.
