My take on it is Gitmo is closing, torture is out, intelligence will continue. What they need to find out in Gitmo which the prior administration unfortunately did not is who is truly a terrorist then prosecute them to the full extent within the next year before Gitmo closes, whoever was just swept up, investigate them thoroughly and if innocent release them to their native country immediately, if they are implicated in any wrondoing, then prosecute accordingly.

Everyone needs to read between the lines. Closing Gitmo is nothing new.
That was going to happen but notice it'll be sometime next year, translation: We ain't closing s#!t.
It's just throwing the far left a bone so that they will be happy, shut-up and settle down before they go overboard. Our new president has barely been in office and already he was pissing off the far left socialists who elected him when he claimed he was gonna raise taxes and now he's saying "It's not such a good idea." He's pissing off all the gays that elected him when he selected Rick Warren to do the prayer at the inauguration consider he was Mr. Anti-Prop 8 in California and now he says, "I'm against gay marriage." And now he's pissing off the base by bothering to ask, "where is the money from the stimulus?"
Politicians are all the same. He said what he had to get into office and now we're seeing he's no different then they guy there previously......so far. Next they'll say who we're pulling out of Iraq throwing another bone to the far left however, it'll be by the end of 2010. Wait, wasn't that the plan under Bush? We're never leaving Iraq. Why would we? Iraq is the United States vision of a Dubai. It's been over 60 years since WWII and we've never left Japan or Germany. We allowed the Philippines to succeed in 1949 but yet, we're still there too. It's been over 50 years since the Korean War and yet, yeah, we're still there. Hell, it's been almost twenty years since the Persian Gulf War and we're still in Kuwait and Qatar with no end EVER in sight.
Samething thing with "illegal" wiretaps. The Patriot Act allows it for the reasons of National Security. They are just not admissible as evidence in a court of law against you. Considering this, then why would they stop doing it?
Let's be smart about stuff. Gotta take care of yourself and screw everyone else....sad but true. Stock up on food and ammo. If you haven't already got a CCWP, apply for one and same goes for your passport. At least now, you will be ready just in case.

GURO my friend. Once again, you make some excellent observations
Although the VISA and CWP is a good idea, they can both be revoked/rescinded at the stroke of a pen, and a keystroke.
I'd recommend, for those concerned about it, that one have an exit strategy, (lawful or otherwise) and be ready to execute it, damned the ramifications.

Absolutely right Shadow. However, it's good to have a passport right now in the event people in this country are "classified."
This is what happened early on in Cuba. Those with a passport from the Bautista government didn't have a problem leaving the country. Those that tried to get one during the Castro regime had a much harder time once people were "classified," and by classified I mean had a social status affixed to them. CCWP is for the now and I'm not talking about the government but the increasing number of people who now maybe out to rob you because things are so bad and may get worse.
Passport for the future and CCWP for the present. God help us.

Oh, I'll be OK.... Having two fifty caliber rifles instead of three will not be any real hardship or reduce my capability of responding to threats to the "homeland" here. Just remember, "homeland security" begins at HOME.

Now they are considering Leavenworth as a possible facility. If i remember correctly, Leavenworth is a medium security prison and not really designed as a maximum security facility.
