It may be that your computer is not up to snuff. The benefit of the vimeo site is that it allows the use of actual high definition videos. But of course, that puts a lot of strain on your PC as well as your ISP's bandwidth.
This particular video was 209 megabytes (with original resolution of 1280x720 pixels) when I uploaded it. I assume there is some compression going on when you download it to your PC to view it, but even so, it is still going to be a HUGE file. Places like YouTube only allow a MAX of 100 megabyte files, and severely compress it when you view the video. They also have an icon to put the display in full screen mode, but in my opinion, it looks like crap.
Sorry, but this is the way the internet is progressing. Static images may someday be completely replaced by full media events embedded in websites. I can certainly see that happening already....
If you are on dial-up, expect the internet to leave you far, far behind, unfortunately.
