Default Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak .........

I've read about the problem and the solution somewhere, but I can't find it. Have any of you had a squeak behind the dashboard, say at the level of the center AC duct, or there bouts, that makes noise all the time, associated with normal vibration while driving. Odd, when I make the slightest turn to the right, the squeak stops while turning. I believe I have read this is a fix that requires taking the center console out, etc., but if anyone has experience with this and some suggestions, I would appreciate it. TIA........Tom

Speaking of squeaks, by steering wheel squeaks when I turn it. Kind of sounds like plastic rubbing and plastic. Much like the sound my seat makes when I move it back and forth. Is there an easy fix for this? It's not too bad, but just one of those nagging things I would like to be gone.

I'm planning on installing a new shifter and probably the CLB as well this weekend, so hopefully when I am under the dash for the CLB I'll be able to spot something that a little bit of grease will help out.

Tom, I found this on Z06Vette.com.

There are some metal brackets that hold the console to the dash. In particular, there are a couple of metal brackets behind the ashtray that rub against each other if the screw isn't real tight.

I haven't taken my dash apart yet, so I can't be of much assistance there.

Rich, here are a couple of threads on Z06Vette.com. The first one has a reply by C4C5Specialist, who knows his stuff. There is a picture a little further down. I threw the second one in there for good measure. Let me know how they work out.

Thanks for the links. Sounds like the squeak can be caused by several different things, apparently. Mine sound like it is coming from near the top of the steering wheel, but I know how sounds can travel and be radiated my things. I'll just have to look when I take the lower dash panel off to see if I can lubricate anything. Don't have any of that white lithium grease, however....

Thanks Scott, guess that means the dash has to come out to get to these screws? I'll poke around and see if I can get to it without and if not, guess I'll plan on pulling the dash. That is something I have not wanted to do, but if I must there are several things I could do while in there, CLB being one of them. I've had the little thingy to do the job with for nearly a year but haven't done it because of the dash/out thing . Might be a good time to think about a B&M shifter as well.
If anyone else has heard about or had the experience with this annoying noise, let me know..........Tom
