Default c5 water pump

what signs do a water pump give before they take a dump. im going to pull the thermostat this weekend to check that. does the pump pi$$ coolant like the lt1 pump?

Sometimes they do,sometimes they don't!! Personally after reading your other thread,I think you have a partially plugged radiator,or a head gasket going "farther south" and your getting a air lock!!

PS. But I wouldn't rule out a worn impeller in the water pump till I seen it!!I've never seen a worn out inpeller on a C5 yet!

head gasket doesnt sound good. anything i can do to remedy a partially clogged radiator? running around today and i didnt hit over 200'. got the car at 60k miles. i flushed and filled around 75k. had to drain alot of coolant when i changed the thermostat. put new dexcool and water in.

Some times you can back flush them,Back flushing now days is almost non-existent!!Most radiators have plastic tanks and thin reeds and won't take the pressure if you use a old time radiator flush gun!! You might try to remove the upper and lower hoses and run water through the radiator back wards with a water hose and flush it out that way!I had success on a 99 a while back that way!It was over heating after a 15-20 mile run cruising at about 85,the guy hasn't had any trouble with it since!!

PS I made me a Adapter out of a couple old radiator hoses and some clamps for the water hose!
