Maybe, and thinking going from a stock LS6 to a 427 with twin turbos this would be a no-brainer, but there is a real good chance it would only help at higher RPMs and take away torque on the low end. Did a lot of reading up on this situation concerning different sized primaries in headers and I actually went into it thinking I would only read GOOD things about my going to larger tubes. Didn't prove to be the case, however.
If my car were a dragstrip queen, spending most of the time in the upper rpm band, that tradeoff would be worthwhile to me. But it's not, and I really like what I've got right now with the rpm band I spend most of my actual driving in. Beefy low end torque feels GOOOOOD on the street.
Yeah, my LGM pro exhaust system is 3 inches from the collector to the catback pipes too. I'm thinking that necking down of the exhaust right before the tubes leading to the turbos might be somewhat beneficial because it would tend to accelerate the exhaust stream.
So did this guy go from stock exhaust manifolds to these headers?
I decided I didn't want to do any business with Hinson because of their disclaimer they put on the invoices specifically disclaiming ANY warranty on the products they sell. That was an issue when I went to buy the motor mounts from them, which I cancelled out upon viewing the invoice and went elsewhere for the mounts.
