Default Another common Florida critter....

Yeah, we find these things around fairly often. Supposed to have a pretty good sting to them, but fortunately I haven't had the pleasure myself...

Amazing...I've lived in virtually all parts of FL since 1965 and never even seen one!

I've seen a few of them in TX and since i've been in FL. I'd rather be stung by a BEE if I had a chioce.

I've seen a few but never took the time to really look at them. It looks like a hybrid of a roach.

I haven't seen one just walking around, but I have found the occassional one laying in the bottom of my pool dead. What I do wonder is how they get into the screen enclosure - the seal at the bottom of the door is pretty tight...

I have seen them in Levy county, but they were always very small, and liked rotted out wood to hide in.

Well, I've lived in Fl over 30 years and have never seen one of those, I'm glad to say. Just how big is that Rich? I know it's a close-up. And, do you have it on ice??

That actually was a pretty large one. Something like 2 inches if I recall correctly. I took that pic last summer. That is a plastic box it is setting in.

Scorpions can squeeze through openings that you just wouldn't believe, so they can get just about anywhere they want to. If you have boots or shoes sitting outside on the porch, it would be wise to shake them out vigorously before putting them on your feet.

One of the things the military taught me. Fort Jackson is a heavilly wooded area. We had WWII barracks. All kinds of critters would get in there.

I used to get these a lot at my parents house in 6 mile creek. OF course, there was a heavily wooded area on 3 sides of us and a lake behind us.

Gators, snakes (moccasins, rattlers) and these damned things!
